Man, if only I’d said that!  It’s as if I was born under this Thomas Edison sign of the zodiac or something crazy.My grandfather always used to say  “There’s more than one way to skin a cat!”  I wasn’t really sure where that came from, but truth be known it didn’t really bother me too much because I didn’t like cats growing up, but I did know what my grandfather was trying to communicate to me and loved it!

I love to look for better ways to do the common and normal, even boring things in life – especially agencies.  I’m sure when I came back to the agency my folks got sick to death of me asking “why” all the time.  “Why do we handle claims this way?”, “why is the accounting ‘system’ a bunch of colored pages filed in these funny little boxes?”, “why do we store files electronically instead of renting more storage rooms?”    All those things that every agency needed to have been asking themselves 20+ years ago as well as today.  If I got one of those dreaded “we’ve always done it that way” answers you know me well enough by now to know I dove in and figured out a better, quicker, more efficient way to do it – and it worked!

If you’re not in a constant mode of asking yourself “why” about just about everything you do every day then you’re more than likely waaaaay behind the times.
Things are changing in our industry at literally internet speed – especially our client’s expectations.

If we aren’t constantly taking a critical look at what we do, why we do it and asking ourselves “Isn’t there a better way?” we’re missing out on HUGE opportunities to streamline and innovate our agency.
