We’re in the middle of a true revolution in how work gets done – the third one to hit in the history of civilization.

We saw the Agricultural Revolution totally change society when we began to grow our own food versus hunting and gathering.  (So glad I missed that!)  The Agrarian Age ended just as the next upheaval called the Industrial Revolution and the coming of machines further shaped our lives and the way we worked.  The third revolution in work is under way RIGHT NOW – the Information Age.  Horsepower is giving way to brainpower, where our minds and knowledge are becoming more precious than machinery as we push ahead toward progress.

Stop and consider how our lives and work has been enriched even in just the last 60 years.  Americans are richer, freer, and treated more fairly than ever before.  Research tells us we start working 2 years later and retire 5 years sooner.  Our paid holidays have doubled since the 1950’s, our vacation days are up 63%, and the average workweek has dropped almost 5 hours since 1966.   Believe it or not, our life expectancy is up over 7 years from where it was even in 1970, so take care of yourself and enjoy it!
