“It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.” — Charles Darwin
The trajectory of change over the past several thousand years tells us what’s in store as we move forward through the 21st century: faster change, more pressure points….like that’s a surprise.
Question is, can we adjust? Will we do it quickly enough? Most important, what will it take to succeed during these crazy Internet speed times?
Managing organizational change is critical. If you have The “Right People on the Bus” as Steven Covey puts it, you’ll be far more successful navigating the waters of change, than if your mirror foggers (my buzz phrase) just occupying a seat.
Getting and staying lean and mean will allow your organization to be. I,be in the face of change, significant and minor, it’s all change. (Kinda like surgery – mine is major – your’s is minor!) OK, back on track. Being able to be proactive is a key success factor in the Information Age.
A “new and improved” mindset means you’re always looking for a better way to do what you do….before your competitor does! Next generation ideas, products, upgrades and updates give you the edge, so stay creative and keep improving every day.
Concentrate on building your knowledge base. If knowledge is to be the new source of wealth in the Information Age, we should be investing in our future. Make sure your daily schedules include some “school” time – always be learning.
The amoeba factor – the successful organization in the 21st century is constantly changing its shape. No matter what business we’re in, if we’re not constantly assessing our “shape” and resizing and re-shaping, breaking down walls, rebuilding for the changing needs of the future……well, ya just can’t afford not to!
It’s a wild ride, let help you jump on the wave and ride it like a champ!
