Data Conversion Project Best Practices #2: Data Cleanup
Trash in and trash out is a common saying in the data conversion world. This statement is often wisely made to encourage as much early stage source system clean and synchronization with the settings/defaults of the target system as possible. Throughout the sampling process you will also be provided with data cleanup needs found as a result of the conversion process that need to be cleaned up in the source system prior to the next sample or final data copy. It is extremely prudent to make the cleanups needed in the source system when at all possible as that system is the most familiar at the time. Post conversion cleanup is almost always required in some fashion, but is coupled with the use of the new system and can be cumbersome and time-consuming in the early days of your GoLive experience.
